Blusher & Blogging : New Hydrating Beauty Mist - Sun Make-Up, Travel, Refresh

ARK Skincare launched their newest product at the start of April – the ‘Hydrating Beauty Mist’. The fabulous point of this product is that it can be used in so many different ways. I’ve been spritzing it on all of my work friends at ‘Out Of Order’ and it’s become very popular!

For me this is the perfect beach accessory, travel accessory – to help the skin recover after a plane journey or in extreme heat or drying air conditioning. As my friend the fabulous make-up artist Daniel Sandler said it’s the perfect make-up pick me up spray. You can spritz it right over your make-up for a glow. This is what I do before I go on stage every night. He also mentioned it in his make-up recommendations for menopausal skin – it’s cooling and soothing.

ARK Skincare's Hydrating Beauty Mist reduces skin roughness and mimics the skin's natural moisturising function to keep your skin supple and hydrated.

Ingredients

Hyaluronic Acid (The ultimate hydrator my all time favourite ingredient)

Amino Acids (Supports the skin’s natural functions and encourages the cells to produce collagen and elastin)

Wild Water Mint (The light scent from the water mint is divine and refreshing)

Aloe Vera (Anti Inflammatory and soothes irritated skin)

Allantoin (Soothing and stimulates cell production)

Goji Berry (High in Vitamin C helps to protect the skin from oxidative stress)

Blue Lotus (Antioxidant with anti-inflammatory benefits)

Susie Amy uses ARK Skincare's Hydrating Beauty Mist as the perfect travel, beach and poolside accessory.

For my skin this is the perfect poolside accessory – my skin doesn’t love the heat – and although I always use sun protection this is a cooling spritz that instantly calms the skin. It can be used easily over sun protection.

The mist is suitable for vegans and contains no parabens, SLS, mineral oil, S.D. Alcohol, formaldehyde, or artificial colours or fragrance. The full range is free from the undesirable ingredients above and ARK Skincare has never tested on animals. If you have remotely sensitive or reactive skin I cannot recommend trying the products from this range enough.

The Style Lane: Hydration SOS

Those fine, horizontal dehydration lines are often mistaken for signs of accelerated ageing, when actually, unlike reversing time, combatting a lack of moisture is a realistic skincare goal to reach. Along with sipping on plenty of aqua and getting a healthy diet in place, there are a ton of products out there to quench thirsty complexions. Where to start? Here are six we’re really loving…

ARK SKIN PERFECTOR HYDRATION INJECTION MASQUE

The Style Lane included ARK Skin Perfector Hydration Injection Masque in its 'Hydration SOS' list.

If you’ve got a big event, wedding, or holiday to look forward to and want to appear radiant and rested, this is your product. It’s packed with mighty hyaluronic acid (your best beauty friend for dehydrated skin) and quite literally, transforms a tired face from grey and dry to plumped up and completely comforted. The thick gel texture is like a big, moisture hug for stressed skin. There’s also a lovely addition of vitamin C to brighten. £35 | SHOP

ARK Skincare's Hydration Injection Masque won the Beauty Shortlist Awards last 2016.

The RAWRDROBE: Loving ARK Cleansers

You'll have a good memory if you remember me (well, my Mum) raving about ARK's Reverse Gravity Eye Cream almost a year ago. She's still totally in love with it and even asking for a new one for Mother's Day. So the point I'm making is that ARK Skincare is a working miracle.

What ultimately sucks me into their brand is the fact they have a really positive approach to ageing and each product is specially designed for a number of different ages for anyone from their teens to over fifty. So whatever age you are, there is a product there dedicated to the needs of your skin. I find this so refreshing as I think so many brands these days just recommend anything to anyone but oh no, not ARK!

Both of these products work together to form a two-step cleansing regime and for those days where I have a bit more time to myself , it's perfect. It feels like I'm having a mini pamper session!

First things first, I'll start with the Skin Essential Pre Cleanse and Makeup Remover by gentle rubbing it into my face then rinsing my hands and using that water to delicately wash my face. The idea of the pre cleanser is to prepare your skin for the second cleanse so it removes makeup, excessive sebum and grime and you're skin will instantly feel better for it. Not going to lie, it does a smashing job of removing any traces of makeup, even my stubborn Maybelline mascara! Normally after removing my makeup my skin feels a bit sore but surprisingly I don't get that at all with this which makes a change so there's the thumbs up for anyone with sensitive skin. My only problem with this is it does feel a bit oily/greasy on my skin and after removing my makeup I can feel it on my skin for quite a while.

Now it's time for the Skin Clear Cleanser designed for anyone in their teens or twenties. I generally have combination skin and my cheeks can get really dry which would normally be a pain for most cleansers but this one worked really well! This really helps to balance the oil in my skin and for the time being has done a pretty good job at keeping blemishes at bay. I use this in the same way as a hot cloth cleanser which takes no time at all and also gently exfoliates my face a little bit making it silky smooth once I'm finished! PS. it smells amazing but does sting your eyes a little if you put too much on that area.

I honestly can't recommend this combo enough and even though I haven't tried any other ranges of the cleanser, if they're as good as this one then you need to get your mitts on it pronto! And just remember in this overwhelming world of skincare, that you need to use products suited to your skin, whether that's for age or type. It's so easy to pick up any cleanser which you've heard rave reviews about and slap it on your face but next time, try and tailor your skincare to your skin. The clue is in the name!

Pixiwoo love our Pre Cleanse & Make-up Remover!

Regardless of how much we enjoy the process of applying our make-up, no one wants to slave away to remove it all at the end of the day! If anyone knows a thing or two about that, it's the hugely talented make-up artists Nic & Sam of Pixiwoo. We were therefore extremely flattered when we heard that the stunning sisters enjoy using our Pre Cleanse & Make-up Remover to remove stubborn make-up in an instant!

Read on for their review:

"One thing I’m super proud of is that I never go to bed with my makeup on. I just can’t do it, even after a couple of gins! If it’s been an evening out where I have worn a heavier base of eye I find it much easier to spend an extra minute using a pre-cleanse. I know we all just want to get into bed after a late night but by giving your skin a once over with a pre-cleanse will ensure all of your makeup is removed easily, your skin will be perfectly clean and more importantly, you won’t need to wash your bed linen the next day to remove the remnants of your mascara.

I have been using ARK Pre-cleanse makeup remover for the last few weeks.

ARK's Pre Cleanse & Make-Up Remover is formulated with a multi-lipid blend to remove all traces of dirt, make-up and grime from your skin after a long day.

It’s a multi fruit mix of makeup dissolving ingredients, which lift of even the heaviest of eye makeup. Its oily texture will sink into your makeup and through circular movements will gently dislodge your layered products enabling your regular cleanser to just wipe off the stragglers and condition the skin.

What’s in it?

Grape seed, avocado oil and kiwi oil lift off makeup and soften the skin whilst Margosa Leaf Extract acts as an anti-bacterial ingredient to ensure there’s no blemish causing nasty’s lurking on the skin. There is also an Ayurvedic herb called Zi Cao, which is particularly beneficial on a sensitive skin.

The product can be poured out of the 150ml bottle allowing you to get a good amount of product to work into your skin. It’s gentle enough to use over the eyes and lips and once washed off there is no residue.

I don’t tend to use this everyday but reserve it for occasions when I need something a little stronger than my regular cleanser. It’s also a great product for removing waterproof mascara, liner and lip stains.

ARK Pre cleanse is £30.00 and available here."

The 12 best hand creams as chosen by The Independent!

Hands are as exposed as our faces and yet we hardly put any thought into skincare or protection for them. Until, that is, winter hits and they start chapping. Modern hand creams don't just boost moisture levels, they're now anti-agers too and can reduce the appearance of age spots and fine lines, and help combat eczema. From sink-side pump dispensers to balms, creams and crème-gloves, we've rounded up the best hand nourishers in the business:

Nasties-free (including no mineral oil and fragrance), this British niche-brand bases its hand cream on essential fatty acids and lipids to boost hydration and reinforce the skin's natural moisture barrier. While red algae targets age spots and keratin amino acid ensures nails are kept strong and healthy. Palmarosa, clary sage, rosemary, ylang ylang, jasmine and mimosa also give this cream a stunning fresh floral scent.

Dalry Rose : Hydration Injection Masque Review

Winter rolls in, central heating goes on, skin goes to poop. Cold weather creates the perfect conditions for dry skin problems such as tightness, sore spots, sensitivity - we have to keep skin hydrated and nourished throughout Winter to ensure our face doesn't only look beautiful, but feel comfortable too.

I have been trialling a hydrating masque by ARK Skincare, who's range comprises of three key age products: teens & 20s protects skin; 30s and 40s defends skin; and 50s + defies ageing. ARK is an award-winning skincare range which is made in Britain, contains natural ingredients and is never tested on animals.

ARK Skincare Hydration Injection Masque review, Dalry Rose Blog, beauty bloggers, UK beauty blog

ARK Skin Perfector Hydration Injection Masque is suitable for any age - the difference is how long you keep the masque on your face. The multivitamin hydration injection masque quenches dehydrated skin, plumps wrinkles and restores vibrancy to dull and tires skin. When your skin looks tired, stressed and dry you can turn to Skin Perfector to restore balance and a healthy glow - it's a luxurious weekly treat!

The active ingredients contain a blend of multivitamins: Vitamin A which regulates collages; Vitamin B5 to help skin stay smooth; Vitamin C to fade pigmentation; and Vitamin E to prevent harmful UV damage. Another miracle ingredient in this masque is Hyaluronic Acid which makes your skin feel super smooth by boosting moisture - it optimises the circulation of water through your skins layers and provides 24hr protection against water loss. Hyaluronic Acid is also a good ingredient to have in products if you're suffering from acne as the moisture helps skin tackle spots. And finally, sugar beet and Abyssinian oil nourishes the skin and helps it feel soft, youthful, healthy and glowing.

I use this masque once or twice a week if I need a pick me up - my skin feels incredibly soft and smooth. Even when I have a spot outbreak, which often happens when central heating comes on as my skin gets dry, I use the masque and my skin feels clean and clear after use. If you're in your 20s: leave the masque on for 5 minutes; in your 30 and 40s: leave it on for 10 minutes; and 50s + leave it one for 15 minutes for a truly pampering feel.

It's not often I find a product that I really love - but this is staying as a gold item in my bathroom cabinet!

Thumbelina Lillie : Transitional Beauty

As the season's change, as does our beauty regime along with it. My products get rotated to suit the weather and the effects it causes on my skin...
It's always the same case, isn't it? The turning and bitterness of the wind can be harsh on our skin, causing chapped lips, dry skin, and red little noses. It is always around October time that I bring out my gloves and earmuffs to keep my lugs warm, there's nothing worse than stone cold ears now, is there? I always seem to bring out more and more skincare products too, as I just feel as if my skin could do with that extra TLC. There happens to be a serum a-plenty and an eye-cream galore that gets added into my simple routine, just so that my skin can soak up every single ounce of moisture that it possibly can because boy, oh boy, does it need it.

ARK is proud to show on its labels that its products are made from natural ingredients - free from artificial fragrances and artificial colours.

Despite it being the colder months, there is still a touch of that Winter sun that comes out on the golden hour, which can give the most beautiful light and glow ever. SPF is still a necessity whether there are clouds in the sky or not, harmful rays still burst out of that sunshine. This Chantecaille Ultra Sun Protection SPF 50 can double up as a makeup primer for an extra level of protection for the skin because SPF should be worn all year round. We also often find our skin on the dehydrated side, looking rather lacklustre thanks to the wind giving it a beating when we're out walking the dogs and what not. Hyaluronic acid is a key ingredient to have in a product to give you the boost and plumpness your skin may need. Omorovicza's Oxygen Booster combines that beauty of an acid with oxygen molecules to revitalise dry skin, plump it out and smooth the complexion. If you are ever having a makeup free day and need some added skin-loving, this can be a wonder.

In the summer, I often can't wait to take off my makeup after a warm day and to be honest, I can't wait to take it off after a groggy one this time of year too! Instead of using something that can strip our skin, why not use something to continue the daily hydration boost? I often get sniffly at this time of year, which gives me mega dry patches around my nose (anyone else?!) from all the tissue blowing! Using an hydrating cleanser like this Jurlique Ultra Rich Cleanser can help repair the skin back to normal. Its combination of botanicals is designed to specifically assist the skin against the environment - perfect!

For stressed and pollution-damaged skin, ARK's skin perfector de-stress serum is formulated for all ages.

Finally, we have a product to round off the day with a name to match it's acting, the De-Stress Serum by ARK. This product looks like you're dabbing milk onto your face, but it gives such a calming effect to the skin, perfect to round off a pamper evening. The product has chamomile to give an anti-inflammatory effect, assisting in getting rid of any kind of issue with the skin, whether that irritation or sun damage. It's a little pippette full of magic!

Blusher & Blogging : The Wonder Oil

ark-skincare-conditioning-oil1

This is the perfect time of year to be talking about ARK Skincare’s award winning Conditioning Oil. This oil from the ARK range is 100% natural and contains 25 different essential oils. After being in the recent beautiful UK sunshine, and lightening my hair pre-summer I’m all together a little bit parched – my legs deserve a special mention in that category. I also have the odd spray tan – which makes me look healthy and is always a better option than baking in the sun, but I definitely notice that my skin is dryer in the days afterwards, due to the tanning agent DHA.

ark-skincare-conditioning-oil1

ARK’s Conditioning Oil is a multi-use product designed for massage, the bath, body and hair and here are some ideas:-

  • Hair Recovery – After sun exposure apply to the hair, I then knot mine into a bun. This is a great hair oil and protects the condition of the hair.
  • Heat styling – I am currently heat styling my hair for work every day and I love to counteract the damage by leaving the Conditioning Oil on for an hour prior to washing. I also use a few drops to smooth the ends.
  • Body Oil – incredibly nourishing for the skin. My legs are especially dry, I hate to write it but scaly at times! I shave them, I tan them, I expose them (protected with SPF) to the sun and they really need some looking after!
  •  I use Conditioning Oil to shave my legs when I really need them to be irritation free and silky smooth
  • If you prefer to have moisturised skin without putting body oil on before dressing or bed the Conditioning Oil makes a fantastic bath oil – and even a shower oil
  • One of the ingredients is sweet almond oil which is great for improving the strength and quality of nails – I use it on both my hands and my feet.
          ark-skincare-conditioning-oil2

ARK Skincare’s Conditioning Oil won ‘Best Mum-To-Be’ Beauty Product in the Beauty Shortlist Baby Awards 2016 – it’s suitable for use in pregnancy.

Ingredients

Abyssinian Oil is a light oil that is highly heat resistant which makes it ideal for the hair before heat styling – a couple of drops is all you need if you are using it pre-styling. It also won’t clog the skin, and doesn’t leave a greasy film.

Sweet Almond Oil – which is packed with vitamins and deeply nourishing

25 Essential Oils – including Frankincense, Myrrh, Patchouli, Lemon, Mandarin, Rosewood, Labdanum, Rose and Jasmine. The scent is warm and gentle.

Sacha Inchi Seed Oil – Contains high levels of antioxidants, and omega fatty acids which help skin elasticity. Renowned for its skin soothing properties and is helpful for irritated skin and dry skin.

Vintage Frills : Hydration Injection Masque review

I am always busy, be it running my kids around, cleaning the house, writing blog posts and lots of fun things like going to events and sourcing vintage for my business. The negative side to always being busy, is that I get really tired all the time. Now I’ve turned 30 I’m more aware of the negative impact this can have on my skin. I do eat very healthily and try really hard to drink enough, but I also try to have a really good skin care regime too.

As I’ve mentioned many times on the blog, I’m a bit of a skincare addict. When shopping for beauty products it’s always skincare items that I enjoy buying the most and will invest slightly more of my budget on. I was recently offered a new skincare product to review. I have been aware of ARK skincare for a while, but had never tried any of their products. They produce a beautiful range of specially formulated for different aged skin. They also avoid harmful chemicals in their products and favour natural ingredients, which is always something I look out for when choosing any kind of beauty product.

I was sent the Skin Perfector Hydration Injection Masque, which is aimed at all ages of skin. This product is perfect for the summer months when a mixture of sun, late nights and cocktails can get the better of us, especially during festival season. This SOS rescue masque is designed to instantly rehydrate the skin and get it back to its former glory.

It is packed with lots of lovely ingredients including; Vitamin A to help keep skin supple; Vitamin B5 for smoothness; Vitamin C for brighter-looking skin and Vitamin E for antioxidant protection. Hyaluronic Acid Booster drenches skin with moisture, optimising the circulation of water through all skin layers and providing 24-hour protection against water loss. Sugar Beet and Abyssinian Oil intensely nourish the skin for a plush, luxury skin feel.

The product is easy to apply, you just smooth a thin layer over freshly cleansed skin. The amount of time that you leave the product on depends on your age. Having just entered the 30s bracket, I left it on for a full 10 minutes. I then gently removed it with a muslin cloth.

So what did I think? My first impression was how much I liked the formula, it has quite a thick honey-like consistency, with a lovely natural smell. It feels really nice on the skin and I found it easy to relax and read my book for 10 minutes while the mask worked its magic. After removing it, I could definitely feel a huge improvement in my skin, which felt soft and less tired. Appearance-wise my skin definitely looked brighter and less tired after using the mask.

I’ve been using the product once a week for the last few weeks and I still absolutely love it. The quality is fantastic and I am really seeing and feeling a difference in my skin since using it. I will definitely be re-ordering this one and adding it to the few favourite products which I use every week. I’d also love to find some other items from the ARK range to try.

The Lavender Barn : Age Defy Brightening Cleanser + Nourishing Moisturiser

ARK Agedefy Brightening Cleanser + Nourishing Moisturiser

Hiya Darlins

You have heard me talk about the brand ARK recently when I discovered the Ark Pro Remove Pre Cleanse, a fabulous pre cleanse that simply melts away make up and grime, I followed this with Ark Agedefy Brightening Cleanser, the agedefy range that I tried is specifically designed for 50+ skin.

ARK Agedefy Brightening Cleanser + Nourishing Moisturiser

This beautifully creamy cleanser is applied to damp skin, massaged in and removed with warm water, completing my double cleanse. This cleanser contains a host of goodies including Red Algae and Apricot Oil to help reduce the appearance of age spots.  Omega 3 Fatty acids, Goji Berry and blackcurrant and Starflower lipids all add to the goodness.

The 200ml pump action bottle produces enough in one pump to cleanse your whole face, I really did feel that combined these two cleansers gave a really deep down clean without leaving my skin feeling stripped.

You are recommended to follow your cleanse with Ark Hydrating Toner, this I didn't have so used a different brand. Followed by

ARK Agedefy Brightening Cleanser + Nourishing Moisturiser

Ark Agedefy Nourishing Moisturiser. This really is the loveliest moisturiser, the 50ml pump will be ample for your face with one pump, but should you wish to cover neck and decolletage then you will need more. It is light but at the same time rich, easily absorbed leaving a silky not greasy finish. It has an almost clinical fragrance which is really quite refreshing, containing 100% natural Hyaluronic Acid it leaves your skin feeling firmer and with quite a bounce to it.  I would say once you have tried this moisturiser it could easily become your ( go to )

Pretty Not Included - Age Protect Range

I've always felt that if you have a large sized skincare range, you should be sure to outline the target audiences for each product line. Make it easy for us so we have minimal excuses as to why we don't currently have a skincare routine. Ark Skincare are such a brand that have highlighted their range for each age group.

I've been using the cleanser and moisturiser from their Age Protect range which is aimed at people in their teens and 20s. My skin is very different to how it was in my teens so I was curious to see whether it would be an effective option for me. My teen skin was very oily and acne prone. Now, at the age of nearly 25, my skin is dehydrated, with minimal hormonal blemishes and most of the oiliness is gone.

The Age Protect Skin Clear Cleanser* was up on my bathroom shelf as soon as this package arrived. You know I love a good cleanser and it's been awhile since I've had a gel formulation in my routine so I was looking forward to using this in the mornings. It's a soap free cleanser that doesn't really foam up when massaged into damp skin so I wasn't worried about it being stripping or overly drying. It also contains oat amino acids which are created from oat proteins. They're a conditioning ingredient so I think this helped to prevent over drying. This is such a refreshing face wash to use on mornings especially if I've slathered my face in oils the night before. It just re-balances my skin and is so quick to use which I love first thing! I think this will be a great Summer cleanser if the weather gets hot and sticky. I also enjoy using this on some evenings after a really sweaty work out. It's a very light gel texture so it doesn't leave my skin feeling heavy or clogged.

This is going to sound strange but I've always wanted to have a moisturiser in the type of packaging where you press the top and the product comes out! Although it's a bulky design, it's so fun (always the little things, eh?) and more hygienic than a pot. Luckily, the Age Protect Skin Vitality Moisturiser* was equipped with such a nifty design. This one has a nice selection of nourishing ingredients that I was happy to get onto my skin. Avocado, peach lipids and olive oil are set to replenish and keep skin hydrated whilst also balanced. It also contains marine algae (this is my ingredient of 2016) to help protect the skin from environmental damage. There's been a lot of emerging research on the effects of pollution on our skin so introducing skincare like this to people from a young age is so important.

This moisturiser looks thick when it oozes out of the pot but it's actually a very light and refreshing formulation. For me, this isn't rich enough on its own for my dehydrated skin. I mix it with a facial oil and it applies beautifully. The combination doesn't leave a greasy finish on the skin but more of a fresh look. Unfortunately, it doesn't leave me skin as plump and nourished as it is when I use my other usual moisturisers. If you have combination to oily skin though, I think this would be a good fit.

The biggest thing I've taken away from having these in my routine is that I really wish I had these products when I was a teenager. They're so much more caring, gentle and nourishing on the skin than an intense scrubby face wash from Boots that depletes all of the oils in your skin and leaves it feeling tender and sad. I'll be passing these on to a family member who's skin suits it a lot better.

I've been exploring and their serums look interesting (especially the De-Stress Serum) and also that Hydration Injection Mask which is suitable for all ages, they just direct you on how long you should leave it on for - clever!
